Marjorie R. Naylor Sunday, January 9, 1949 - Saturday, May 20, 2017

Marjorie R. Naylor, age 68, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Somerset Health and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, Ohio. She was born Marjorie Roberta Ward on January 9, 1949 in Wellington, Ohio. She was a 1967 graduate of Keystone High School in LaGrange, Ohio, although she had attended Black River in Sullivan, Ohio for most of high school. Among many high school activities, Marjorie was a member of the National Honor Society and a Black River High School cheerleader. Marjorie married Larry Naylor on June 12, 1967. As a devoted housewife and mother, she also worked from home making custom draperies for Oberlin Avenue Carpet and Drapery Shop in Lorain, Ohio. Marjorie moved on from drapery making, when she and Larry took their enjoyment for the sport of archery and opened their own business, Naylor’s Archery Center, and archery shop that eventually expanded to have an indoor archery range as well. This dedication to the sport, also led to her becoming the Secretary-Treasurer of the Ohio Archers Association, the state archery organization. Her many years of service were rewarded with a lifetime membership to the organization in 1986. While Marjorie had to make many adjustments to her daily activities after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, her spirit and zest for life were never dampened. She may no longer have been able to tolerate the summer heat to shoot a bow outdoors or plant and garden and later can vegetables and tomato juice. But when she and Larry decided to move closer to their daughter and grandchildren, the house they built was the floor plan she designed. With her daughter’s help for the heavier lifting, she still made her own custom draperies for every room, including the large French doors. She may not have been able to go out and play with and teach her grandchildren to catch a ball in the yard. But she taught them her secrets to her amazing pumpkin pie and their grandfather’s favorite sugar cookies. Many of her proudest moments were times spent with her family and being there for their successes. Marjorie is survived by Larry, her beloved husband of 49 years; her daughter, Dawn; and her grandchildren, Branden and Kitana. A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM Sunday, June 11, 2017 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE, OHIO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.
