Viola Mae Gilg Wednesday, December 14, 1921 - Thursday, June 29, 2017

ZANESVILLE Viola Mae Gilg, 95 of Zanesville, passed away at The Helen Purcell Home on Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was born December 14, 1921 to the late Paul and Maggie Warne Darst and was employed at Ohio Bell. Viola was a lifelong member of Coburn United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Woman Imhausen Circle and always volunteered to help in the kitchen. She also volunteered at Christ’s Table and was a staunch follower of the Cincinnati Reds. She is survived by her daughter Linda Coleman; two grandsons: Dave (Courtney) Coleman and Steve (Christy) Coleman; four great grandchildren: Evan, Alex, Emily and Aaron; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Roy Gilg; a brother Daniel Darst and a sister Bonnie Leach. Calling hours will be 2 to 5 PM Sunday, July 2, 2017 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD ZANESVILLE. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Monday, July 3, 2017 in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Doris Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701. GOD wanted another ANGEL, so he took Viola home.  Rest in peace dear friend.
