Over the past several years, large publicly traded companies have been purchasing funeral homes across Ohio and the United States, including one in our area owned by a Texas company. The early nineties saw hundreds of family operated funeral homes across North America brought into the fold of large multi-national firms. Recent media reports such as 60 Minutes, Time, and US News and World Report conclude that these death care business operations, while trying to maintain the facade of a family operation, quickly increase prices considerably and enforce merchandising policies on employees geared to significantly increase their bottom lines.
Is Snouffer Funeral Home independently owned or is it operated by a large chain or corporation?
Yes, the Snouffer Funeral Home is family owned and independently operated. It is not operated by a large public corporation. We take pride in our local ownership and the many ways in which we contribute to our communities through educational offerings, charitable donations and hundreds of volunteer hours. Our investment in the community spans over many years and we passionately believe in doing our best to make Zanesville and the surrounding communities a better place to live.
Not all funeral homes in the Zanesville area are privately owned. We feel there is a distinct difference between our funeral homes and those owned by publicly traded companies. We answer to the families we serve, not Wall Street.

We can create a customized, online memorial for you to share with family and friends. The memorial includes the obituary and any photographs you wish to provide. It will serve as a place for visitors to post condolences, share memories, upload photos, and light candles in honor of your loved one.
